ABOUT US
The Filipino Kali Academy was founded at Liberty Station on September 14, 2012, by Guro Greg Cerezo. We offer foundational education and instruction in the Filipino Martial Arts (FMA), specifically focusing on Indigenous Kali (iKali)—a system developed and authored by Tuhon Apolo Ladra, a direct student of Grand Tuhon Leo T. Gaje Jr. for over 30 years. Grand Tuhon Gaje is the sole heir and guardian of the Pekiti Tirsia Kali system.
Tuhon Ladra’s iKali curriculum is accessible to both experienced practitioners and beginners, providing a highly teachable framework for understanding and applying core FMA principles. The program emphasizes tactical applications of “Offense,” “Counter-Offense,” and “Re-Counter Offense” to dominate combative scenarios. This approach reinforces the belief that the best defense is a strong offense—shifting the burden of defense to the attacker.
Today, the iKali system is practiced by tens of thousands of students worldwide.
